PIANO Lessons

Learning to play the piano offers benefits that extend far beyond music. It strengthens concentration, coordination, memory, listening skills, and the ability to process information. Through consistent practice, students develop discipline, perseverance, patience, confidence, self-esteem, and the satisfaction of achieving meaningful goals.

Unlike most instruments, the piano is capable of presenting melody, harmony, rhythm, and accompaniment within a single performance, offering an exceptionally comprehensive musical education. From the earliest lessons, students learn to integrate these musical elements while developing technical proficiency, a deep understanding of musical structure, concentration, coordination, confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

A well-rounded piano education integrates technique, musicianship, music reading, ear training, music theory, and performance. Students are encouraged to share their music through group classes, workshops, recitals, festivals, competitions, and other performance opportunities, building confidence, poise, and the joy of communicating through music.

Every lesson is thoughtfully tailored to the individual student. By building on each student's strengths while addressing individual challenges, lessons foster a strong technical foundation, musical understanding, artistic expression, and independent learning. The goal is not simply to teach students how to play the piano, but to help them become thoughtful, confident musicians who will continue to enjoy and appreciate music throughout their lives.

COACHING/Collaborative Piano / Accompaniment

Coaching sessions are designed for dedicated pre-college instrumentalists and vocalists preparing for auditions, competitions, and recitals. Sessions focus on interpretation, phrasing, stylistic understanding, and performance readiness, complementing ongoing study with student’s primary teacher.

Collaborative piano services include:

  • Auditions and competitions

  • Recitals and performances

  • Recording for college applications and/or competitions

  • Festivals and masterclasses

Rehearsals are approached with preparation, sensitivity, and a spirit of partnership to ensure confident and cohesive performances.

MUSIC FUNDAMENTALS & THEORY

Individual theory instruction is available for middle and high school students seeking to strengthen their understanding of musical fundamentals and prepare for advanced coursework, including AP Music Theory.

Sessions focus on notation, rhythm, scales, intervals, harmonic analysis, basic part-writing, ear training, and sight-singing. Concepts are taught clearly and applied directly to the repertoire students are studying, reinforcing both analytical skills and musical understanding.

The goal is to build confidence, fluency, and a strong foundation for continued musical growth.
